Heineken owned Lagunitas Brewing Company will debut line of cannabinoid-infused sparkling water on July 30.
Lagunitas partners with California based cannabis producer and distributor CannaCraft, who will oversee the THC infusion process. CannaCraft has an award winning artisanal cannabis chocolate line, Satori, as well as cannabis oil and CBD Brands.
The new beverage named “Hi-Fi Hops,” the cannabis beverage will only be available in California dispensaries initially. It will come in two different varieties – one with 10 mg of THC, and one with 5 mg of THC and 5mg of CBD. With this, they hope to appeal to both casual users and habitual cannabis consumers. More of a “sparkling water” than beer, “Hi-Hops” has zero carbohydrates and zero calories.
Lagunitas Brewing Company has the #1 selling IPA in the world, Lagunitas IPA. Jeremy Marshall, Lagunitas Brewmaster, calls the hops they use in their beer a “…cannabis cousin” and the cannabis-infused beverage the logical next step for their passion for beer and hops.
“We believe it’s high-time that good beer inspired a provocative yet refreshing tasting non-alcoholic alternative – bubby, aromatic, bitter, fruity, and herbaceous with no gluten, no carbohydrates and a smidge of California sun-grown cannabis in every sip.”
This could be the first of many major Brewing companies to release cannabis infused beverages. Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ), who owns Corona and Ballast Point, took 9.9% stake in Canopy Growth (TSX: WEED) medical marijuana company last year.
